If Shakespeare had invented DevOps

About a month ago a couple of my colleagues, James Murtagh (twitter) and Becky Amos (twitter), challenged me to write an alternative version of the prologue to Romeo and Juliet.

Here is what I came up with. Comments welcome, but only if they are in iambic pentameter.

***

Two households, both alike in dignity,
In the IT dept, where we lay our scene,
From legacy hack to new discrepancy,
Where manual steps dictate need for caffeine.
From forth the fatal charge of these two foes
A pair of star-cross’d techies leave their roles;
These who from chaos made good practice grow
With resignation crush employers goals.

The fearful presence of their Dev / Ops team,
And the continuance of their bosses rage,
Leads to a single outcome for skilled geeks,
To go seek out more fertile IT stage;
If thoust wish not thy team for certes to quit,
Seek out to grow togeth’r, bit by bit.
