I love when people challenge the status quo – and Brent has done just that with his new event: GroupBy

I wrote last month about the challenges of continuing to fund free training events. Many of us love these free events but venues and travel and catering is expensive. One approach that a few people have taken is to move to the web. (That’s what I did with my DLM Workshops!)

Brent Ozar has been doing online training for years and now he’s running a full-day, open, online, SQL conference. Session submissions are open to anyone on any topic and the voting and feedback on submissions is public. Whether you are new to speaking or conference circuit veteran this seems like a great way to test out and iterate on abstracts.
